Basic Income Helps Indigenous Communities Protect the Peruvian Amazon
A pilot project in Peru provides roughly $2.50 per day to 188 individuals from Indigenous communities to help preserve 1,823 acres of natural capital in the Amazon rainforest. By addressing poverty, a key driver of deforestation, the initiative aims to relieve financial pressures on families and stimulate forest conservation efforts.
